VIDEO: Two Gay Dads With Their Son Starring Campbell’s Soup Ads

Larry Sullivan and David Monahan are happily married couple, and both are professional actors. Their adorable son, Cooper, is surely on his way to become a professional actor too.

As a family, they starred in a new Campbell’s Soup campaign “Made for Real, Real Life”. In the video, Larry and David are feeding their son Cooper on turns, with a spoonfuls of the Star Wars themed Campbell’s Soup, and doing their best impersonation of Darth Vader’s well known “I am your father”.

Yin Woon Rani, Campbell’s vice president of marketing activation, stated to Advertising Age that they wanted to show a diverse mix of American families in their campaign, and to add “a wink and a smile” to the brand’s messaging.

However, this is not the couple’s first commercial. They starred together in a Sabra Hummus commercial, in May. And a Target commercial featured them, with their son Cooper, in 2014.

“They were looking for chemistry and history more than anything and I guess we just had that, naturally, after almost 14 years together. They weren’t trying to make any kind of statement or anything, we just got the job as ‘another couple in one of the vignettes.’ I love how much things are changing… have changed. Let’s hope we keep moving forward.” – Sullivan reported to Towleroad on how they scored the hummus ad in May.
